Micro Chisel
by Paul Payne
BACKGROUND
Some modelers still like to use chisels to make wood carvings. Paul Payne is one of them. If you have tried to buy small chisels for making wood carvings for small scale models, you have probably found that they are expensive, and even the smallest ones available are not small enough for some situations. Paul had this problem, and decided to make his own out of some dental burrs, which are made of high quality steel. Chisels of 1/32 width or even smaller are perfectly feasible with this method.
PROCEDURE
Find an old dental burr
Grind cutting edge at desired size
and angle (this can be done by hand honing on a flat diamond abrasive surface.)
Turn a wood handle on your lathe
